Greater Redmond Transportation Management Association (GRTMA)
Logicalis helped the Greater Redmond Transportation Management Association develop an interactive Web site to provide the world's first multi-employer, self-serve Internet ride matching program.- Custom Web-based application makes connecting commuters simple
- Self-service site reduces administrative workload
- Ridesharing Web site reduces single occupant commutes
As a private, not-for-profit Transportation Management Association, the Greater Redmond TMA provides innovative transportation services, Commute Trip Reduction planning, and education to a consortium of major corporations. RideQuest.com is one such initiative that has been launched to reduce traffic congestion.
The Challenges
Greater Redmond TMA wanted to find a way to increase ridesharing. The Internet seemed like an ideal place to connect commuters with similar schedules and destinations. They wanted to create an intuitive interface that anyone could utilize to find rideshare partners.
The Solution
Logicalis created a Web site that allows registered users to enter relevant information about their commute, including destinations and travel times and then view a map which displays locations of other registered users who have similar journeys and travel times. Users can send a pre-written 'Ride-share' wanted email message to any or all of the people on the match list.
Key technologies used include HTML, JavaScript, Active Server Pages, COM, ActiveX, Microsoft IIS and a Microsoft SQL database. Maps are generated using ESRI's MapObjects and MapObjects IMS. The Map data is provided by Geographic Data Technology, Inc.
